Most of the time when people ask me how about my relationship, I tell them, “Being single sucks.”

Which is true.

But when I think about it, I’m only 16 years old.

Who needs a boyfriend when I have my whole life ahead of me?

How often do high school relationships actually last?

A day? A week? Maybe a month if you’re lucky.

How long a relationship lasts depends on the maturity of both people involved in it.

Does that mean that getting a boyfriend will mean I have to become mature?

I don’t want to do that!

From another perspective, a boyfriend can be too much of a distraction.

Juggling my time between school, work, and friends wouldn’t leave any room for a boyfriend.

That would cause some conflicts.

“Oh, you don’t have time for me, but you can hang out with your friends every weekend?”

I’m sorry, but I want to keep my friends.

Not seeing each other all the time would also lead to an obsessive boyfriend or girlfriend.

They start getting freaked out because they assume you’re cheating on them and that’s why you don’t have time for them.

Well that gets annoying and the relationship eventually ends.

If I hang out with a boyfriend, then I’m going to have to push something aside.

That would probably be school since I want to make money, which would lead to failing classes.

What’s the point in that?

I want to be successful in life, therefore a boyfriend would interfere greatly.

On the other hand, some people get into relationships because they’re “in love.”

We’ve all heard the line, “I never want to lose you, I love you too much for that.”

Right, like you mean that…

Especially when the relationship crumbles a few weeks later.

So for now I guess I’ll enjoy my singleness.

High school relationships are pointless, anyway.   I will, however,  still forever complain that I am “forever alone.”

It adds drama and its my right as a girl.
