Besides teaching her subject matter, one CHS teacher has influenced many seniors to head out and experience the world.

As a senior, Ms. Kaschalk, CHS speech teacher,  has influenced me, along with many other seniors, to travel as much as we can, while we can.

Kaschalk leads by example in the area.

“Traveling opens up many new adventures and opportunities so you just have to take it all in while you can,” says the traveler herself.

Although Kaschalk never got to travel when she was younger, other than various mandatory school trips, she made up for it as she was given the chance.

She’s been to all 50 states, 14 countries, and 3 islands.

One of the things that Kaschalk likes to experience is the food that is native to wehre she is.

“Whatever the state was known for. In Idaho, I ate an abundance of potatoes, and in Maine, I ate lobster.”

She continues, “I’ve yet to eat something out of my comfort zone”.

The most exciting thing for Kaschalk on her voyages was the thrill and anxiety she got when she was traveling through an area where a tornado had just occurred.

She enjoyed the sheer amount of adrenaline she gained when she saw the terrain that had been devoured by mother nature.

Kaschalk said that she wouldn’t recommend just one state, country, or Island because they’re all unique in their own way and being able to travel is enough in her opinion.

When it comes to teaching, traveling has definitely influenced her skill in the classroom.

Kaschalk says it has opened her mind to various ways to teach her students and having the privilege to be one of her students is very beneficial.

As a student in her class, it’s a treat to be able to hear her knowledge and wise words.

Knowing someone who has been to all 50 states, 3 Islands, and 15 countries is so satisfying, hearing their stories, and benefitting from it.

Kaschalk has definitely changed the atmosphere at Coldwater High with her diverse attitude that she gives off to every individual that has the chance to pass through her room.

So take it from the queen of traveling herself, “It’s never too late to start traveling”
